Bye-bye Lake Michigan

Bye-bye Lake Michigan

For the past 17 years we've been sailing on Lake Michigan. First with our MacGregor 26 M Zugvogel, then with our Hunter 380 Zugvogel II and for the past 4 years with MAKAAN.

After leaving Frankfort, we continued on our way north, spending the nights at anchor at South Manitou Island and Beaver Island. Then, on June 11, we left Lake Michigan, probably for the last time. It was a rainy and misty day which reflected a little bit our mood at the moment we sailed under the Mackinac Bridge.

However, no reason to be sad – the beautiful North Channel, our next destination, is waiting with all its beautiful little islands and amazing anchorages. And let's not forget the oh so friendly people! Here on Drummond Island, everybody waves at you, starts a conversation, tells you his life story and is willing to help you in any way they can.

If you ever get to Drummond Island, the charming little History Museum is well worth a visit!

Auf Wiedersehen Lake Michigan

Seit 17 Jahren segeln wir nun schon auf dem Lake Michigan.
