But it gives us a chance to pick up some necessary supplies – veggies, fruit, milk, motor oil and yes, some beer as well. <\/p>
<\/p>
The following day we tie up in the Marina Vieux-Port in Quebec which is only a 10 minute walk from the downtown area. What a beautiful city! The skyline is dominated by the ChÁ¢teau Frontenac, one of Canada's grand railway hotels built by the Canadian Pacific Railway. Over the years, it's hosted luminaries such as Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt, who gathered here for the QuÁ©bec Conferences during WWII, as well as Alfred Hitchcock, who featured the Frontenac in the opening scene of his 1953 mystery I Confess.<\/p>
<\/p>
Old Quebec consists of the Old Upper Town and Old Lower Town, connected by the "Breakneck Staircase", both filled with lots of very well restored historic buildings, little boutiques and countless restaurants and bars. We spend the entire day strolling through the town, enjoying the beautiful buildings and soaking up the special flair this city has to offer. About 10 miles later, which on pavement feels like so much more, we end the day sharing a cup of espresso with another cruising couple we've met the day before. Bernice and Eldon are on their way to Nova Scotia and as we're going in a similar direction, chances are we will run into then again.<\/p>
<\/p>
<\/p>
Von Montreal nach Quebec<\/strong><\/p>
<\/p>
Was fÁ¼r eine grossartige Stadt!
<\/p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

<\/p>
pxl_20220729_204814321.mp-collage.jpg<\/p>
From Montreal to Quebec<\/strong><\/p>
<\/p>
We continue to go down the St. Lawrence River, spending one night at anchor in Trois-Rivieres As there are a Walmart and a Maxi grocery store close by, we decide to go shopping – short dinghy ride, walking up the hill, then 15 minutes to the stores and the whole procedure back, […]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-4744","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/sailingmakaan.com\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4744","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/sailingmakaan.com\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/sailingmakaan.com\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sailingmakaan.com\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sailingmakaan.com\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=4744"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/sailingmakaan.com\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4744\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/sailingmakaan.com\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4744"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sailingmakaan.com\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=4744"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sailingmakaan.com\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=4744"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
