The river becomes tidal at that point and we will have to take high and low tide into consideration when picking future anchorages.<\/p>
<\/p>
The landscape is also changing. While it was flat up to Quebec, the plains gives way to rolling hills that continuously get higher until we reach our next destination, Tadoussac. <\/p>
Various whale species are drawn to the rich food supply stirred up by the mixing of waters here, including belugas. No surprise that this is a popular whale watching location.<\/p>
<\/p>
We spend two nights at anchor where we are fortunate to see multiple whales and also a couple of seals. So amazing! <\/p>
We spend a day ashore, taking a 4 mile hike up toMount AdÁ©la-Lessard, which rewards us with a magnificent view of the Saguanay Fjord and, once again, multiple whale sightings. Just wished we could be a little closer! A stroll along the Pointe-de-l'Islet Trail informs us about the history of the area as well as life in a marine environment.<\/p>
<\/p>
Unfortunately, the belugas in front of the information center are the only ones we have seen so far.<\/p>
<\/p>
We end a beautiful day with cheese fondue and baguette from the local boulangerie followed by a cup of espresso and a slice of chocolate cake. Can it get any better than that?<\/p>
<\/p>
<\/p>
Von Quebec nach Tadoussac<\/strong><\/p>
<\/p>
