<p><strong><em>We hope we'll never have to see it again<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p><\/p><p>When we bought MAKAAN, she came with a 6 person Switlik life raft that had not been recertified since 2013. As there was no dealer in the Chicagoland area who could service the raft, we decided to get it done during our trip down the East Coast.<\/p><p><\/p><p>It so happened that friends of ours, Courtney and Jason, arranged a get-together with other friends of theirs who live near Portland, ME. We had a fabulous time with Brad and Stephanie who graciously invited us into their house, showed us the beautiful area they call their home, and even entrusted us with their car so we could explore the surroundings when they had prior engagements. Thank you again so much!!!<\/p><p><\/p><p>The icing on the cake was that there was a marine store in downtown Portland where they could service our life raft, about 40 minutes away from Brad and Steph’s home.<\/p><p><\/p><p>When we got there, John, the technician, offered to inflate the raft while we were still there. How cool is that!!! We weren’t even sure if it would inflate or if they would still service it at all, considering the liferaft was already 20 years old. Needless to say, it was fantastic to see the inflated raft, all the parts that were included and to get a demonstration on how to use them in an emergency. Da es um Chicago herum keinen HÁ¤ndler gab, der sie warten konnte, beschlossen wir, dies wÁ¤hrend unserer Reise entlang der OstkÁ¼ste zu erledigen.<\/p><p><\/p><p>ZufÁ¤lligerweise hatten Courtney und Jason, zwei unserer Freunde, ein Treffen mit anderen Freunden von ihnen organisiert, die in der NÁ¤he von Portland, ME, leben. <\/p><p>Wir hatten eine super Zeit mit Brad und Stephanie, die uns freundlicherweise in ihr Haus einluden, uns die wunderschÁ¶ne Gegend zeigten, die sie ihr Zuhause nennen, und uns sogar ihr Auto anvertrauten, damit wir die Umgebung erkunden konnten, wenn sie andere Verpflichtungen hatten. <\/p><p>Das TÁ¼pfelchen auf dem i war, dass es in der Innenstadt von Portland, etwa 40 Minuten vom Haus von Brad und Steph entfernt, ein MarinegeschÁ¤ft gab, in dem man unsere Rettungsinsel warten konnte.<\/p><p><\/p><p>Als wir dort ankamen, hat uns John, der Techniker, angeboten, die Rettungsinsel gleich in unserer Gegenwart noch aufzublasen. Wie cool ist das denn!!! Wir waren uns nicht einmal sicher, ob es sich noch aufblasen lassen wÁ¼rde oder ob es Á¼berhaupt noch gewartet werden kÁ¶nnte, wenn man bedenkt, dass die Rettungsinsel schon 20 Jahre alt war. Es war natÁ¼rlich fantastisch, das aufgeblasene Rettungsboot und alle dazugehÁ¶rigen Teile zu sehen und eine Demonstration zu bekommen, wie man sie im Notfall bedienen mÁ¼sste.
