The weld on the mounting bracket for the high pressure pump that Hans had commissioned in Oriental, NC, disintegrated shortly after being attached to the engine, probably due to the vibrations. So this called for a new plan. But whatever plan we would want to execute, we'd have to go back to the US as it's complicated to have parts sent to the Bahamas. So we left Georgetown and started our 330 mile journey back to West Palm Beach, FL.<\/p>
<\/p>
It took us six days to get there as we had to sit out a couple of days due to the wind blowing strongly out of the north. At one point we come back to an anchorage near Fowl Cay, where we already stayed during our trip south. But something looked different. Right behind the entrance to the anchorage sat the wreck of another ketch!!!! According to Navionics, the boat sank only a few days before. Yes, we know that these inlets can be quite dangerous, especially when wind and current come from opposing directions, but seeing the sunken sailboat brought home once again how quickly things can go wrong. Thank goodness we had a safe trip with some great sailing, a couple of overnight trips and before we knew it, we dropped anchor in Lake Worth again.<\/p>
<\/p>
<\/p>
<\/p>
<\/p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

My goodness, that could have happened to us as well<\/em><\/strong><\/p>
<\/p>
The water maker installation caused us more problems than expected.
